Collect data from web pages into CSV or Google Sheets
Copying prices, names or links from page after page into a spreadsheet is slow and error-prone. With Pro, a LoopClicker scenario can read the values for you into named columns and hand you the table as a CSV file or ready to paste into Google Sheets.
Step by step
- Open a page with the data, click the LoopClicker toolbar button and choose New from template, then "Collect data into CSV" (a Pro template).
- In the Read step, pick an element that holds a value you want, such as a price, and choose what to take: its text, a number from it, a field's value, or an attribute such as href.
- Name the column, for example price. To take every element like it on the page, one per row, choose all matches.
- Add a Read step for each column. If the data runs over several pages, add a Click on Next and a Wait, and loop the scenario.
- Press Run. The run log shows a preview of the rows collected so far.
- When it ends, press Download CSV for a file that opens in Excel, or Copy for Sheets and paste into Google Sheets.
Want to try it first? The test page has buttons, a click area, a form and more to practise on — nothing on it is sent anywhere.
How the rows are made
- Each pass of the scenario makes one row, with one column per Read step. Loop the scenario to go through pages one by one.
- A Read step set to all matches gives one row per element it finds — every product on a list page, say. Several such columns line up by position.
- Rows keep adding up over the whole run: across loops, across the rows of a CSV file, and across a list of URLs.
- Download CSV writes a file Excel opens correctly, quotes, commas, line breaks and accents included. Copy for Sheets copies the rows so they paste into separate cells.
Free and Pro
The Read step, the CSV download and the copy for Sheets are part of Pro. Everything collected stays on your computer: it is not sent to loopclicker.com or anywhere else.
What it cannot do
- It reads what the page shows. Text inside images or drawn on a canvas cannot be read.
- If a site changes its layout, re-pick the elements, or pick them by their text instead.
- Some sites forbid automated collection in their terms. Check before you collect, keep a pause between pages, and collect only what you are allowed to use.
- Very large collections are capped at 10,000 rows per run.
