Reload a page until text appears, then click
Waiting for a page to change — a slot to open, an order status to say "Shipped", a "Book now" button to appear — usually means pressing reload again and again. LoopClicker can reload for you, look for the text after each load, and click the moment it is there.
Step by step
- Open the page you want to watch, click the LoopClicker toolbar button and choose New from template.
- Choose "Reload until text appears, then click". It opens in the editor with the parts still to choose highlighted.
- In the Reload until step, type the text to wait for, such as "Available", or pick an element that should appear instead.
- Set how long to look after each load, how often to reload (for example every 60 seconds, plus up to 10 random seconds) and when to give up: after a number of reloads or a length of time.
- Pick the button to click once the text is there. Keep the Notify step after it for a sound and a desktop notification.
- Press Run and allow this one site when Chrome asks: the scenario needs it to carry on after each reload. Esc stops it.
Want to try it first? The test page has buttons, a click area, a form and more to practise on — nothing on it is sent anywhere.
What the Reload until step does
It first checks the page as it is. If the text or element is not there within the time you set, it waits, reloads the page and checks again — until it is found, or until the limit you set is reached. Then the scenario carries on with the next step, usually the click.
- Text or element. Wait for a text anywhere on the page (or inside one part of it), or for an element to appear. You can also wait for a text to disappear, such as "Sold out".
- How often. Every so many seconds or minutes, plus a random extra pause if you like, so the reloads are not perfectly regular.
- When to give up. After a number of reloads, after a length of time, or both. The run then stops and the run log says why.
Free and Pro
The Reload until step is part of Pro. Without Pro you can still build a simpler loop for free: a Reload page step, a Wait, a Click on the button, and the loop set to ∞ — see auto refresh a page and click a button. The Notify step is free too: a sound and a desktop notification, or a banner on the page if you would rather not allow notifications. With Pro, it can also send you a Telegram message or an e-mail.
What it cannot do
- It needs permission for the site, because each reload ends what was running in the page. Without it the scenario stops at the first reload.
- It looks only at what the page shows. Text inside a picture, or drawn on a canvas, cannot be found.
- Keep the pause between reloads reasonable — a minute or more is plenty for most pages. Reloading a site many times a minute can break its rules and get your access limited.
- If your session on the site expires, the page may never show the text; set a limit so the run ends by itself.
